*About weather: Since we’re an outdoor food vendor without a lot of rain cover, weather has an effect on our hours. If it’s ever nasty outside, it’s possible that we’ll stay closed. If you’re ever in doubt, check our Twitter feed and we’ll let you know what the deal is for the day. If there’s no special notice, assume we’re open.

Vegan: Our vegan options do contain sugar and may have been manufactured on equipment previously used for non-vegan items.

Because of the injustices prevalent in the banana trade, we strive to use bananas from socially responsible companies. Currently, most our bananas are from EARTH University, though we often use other socially responsible brands, including organic Fair Trade brands.  Very occasionally, we cannot source our preferred brands, and we buy a case of standard run-of-the-mill bananas. (Not Del Monte or Chiquita, though.) Whenever this happens, we donate $5 to an organization supporting labor justice on banana farms. Amount donated so far this season: $185 to ILRF (updated 11/20/16). We have used Turbana bananas in the past and, although they are no longer available to us in Austin, we highly recommend them should you come across them in another area.

In 2015 we began using Fair Trade chocolate due to the injustices prevalent in the chocolate trade.

We also compost our banana peels and recycle front of house and back of house. We’re not perfect, but we’re always looking for ways to do things in a more ethical manner and appreciate any feedback and advice in this regard. Please visit our contact form to start a conversation.

We accept cash, credit, and trade. (Trade opportunities subject to whims of working bananarchist.)

  1. Has Mitch Clem eaten here yet?

  2. Can I bring your brilliance to Chicago?

  3. Michele,
Not sure what you mean. Are you asking …
    1) … if you can steal the banana stand under the cover of night and surreptitiously transport it to the Windy City?
    2) … if we’ll give you our hard-won secrets of banana alchemy that make our bananas so good?
    3) … if you can surgically extract our secrets of banana alchemy from our brains and surreptitiously transport them to the Windy City?
    4) … if we’ll come visit Chicago sometime.

    1) No.
    2) No.
    3) No. Weird.
    4) Maybe.

Does that help? Cool blog, by the way 😀

  4. Saw you on DayTripper with Chet Gardner. As a huge fan of Arrested Development, my wife and I are planning a trip to south Austin soon to enjoy a banana treat.

  6. Hey there, Bananarchy!

So, I am new in Austin with very few friends(yet), and I’ve been a bit blue since I moved here. Those few friends have been away, and school has yet to begin.(boredom in a strange city!)
I drove by bananarchy and literally squealed. I’m not a squealer, so this was a pretty big deal.
A bit of background: I go to disneyland just for the frozen bananas. They are my favorite piece of matter.

So, post squeal: I’m so happy, I can’t wait to try every combination possible.

So in conclusion, thanks. Knowing I now live in a city where such a place exists makes me love Austin even more.

    See ya’ll super soon!

  7. Really really really really hate that you guys are closed on Sunday. It’s the best frozen banana day.

  8. Fell in love with your tasty banana’s, by any chance can you UPS/Fed Ex some to Southern California?! The boyfriend and I have been missing them!!

  9. Western medicine practice usually involves treating an ailment with prescription drugs, often with their own side effects.
Most patients say that they get a pins and needles sensation on the insertion of the needles and indeed into the duration of the treatment, which usually lasts about 15 to 30 minutes.
The latter group also had a higher rate of miscarriage
and still birth (20%) compared to those ladies who received acupuncture for fertility (8%).

  11. Thus, if you want to make sure that you will be getting the
best from your house, better yet weigh all the advantages and disadvantages fairly before deciding to invest.
Coined in the 1935 by a man by the name of Walter Winchell, the
term was used to describe phonograph operators (whatever they are).
So if your front door was opened and you were not aware of it,
all you would have to do was press the asteric key
and instantly you would receive not only an audible message describing the zone but also a display which would read front door open.
