Grand Hibernation Party – Oct. 29

posted by on October 27 2012

Mozart says...all bananarchists are winerrsEdit: Please wear a costume! If you will!

This year, we were sort of at a loss about what to do for the Grand Hibernation Party. We sat at a dimly lit table at our neighborhood dive, sipping coffee and kombucha, thumbing at the spoons on our heads and ignoring the glances of the Cakeists at the next table, wondering what we could possibly put on a Facebook event page to make people want to come to our party. Should we invite them to do what WE normally do at parties? Mingle, eat hors-d’oeuvres, and not drink alcohol? Somehow we didn’t think it would attract enough attention.

We threw around various ideas ranging from John Williams listening parties to forgiveness parties to kiddie-pools-filled-with-maple-syrup parties to avant-garde combinations of live music and human megaphones, and finally settled on the only one that sort of made sense: BINGO. Feeling rather self-conscious about the potential uncoolness of Bingo in public perception, however, we felt inclined to overcompensate by adding other contests. “We could have a banana eating contest!” we said. “A costume contest! A balloon popping contest! A Mozart listening contest!” We congratulated each other on trudging through this momentary block.

A NIGHT OF CONTESTS for top-peelers and bottom-peelers alike! Including:

-Bananarchy Bingo!
-GOB eating contest!
-Prizes! (T-shirts! Gift certificates! Etc.!)
-Mozart listening contest?
-Probably a giant banana giving out hugs.
Remember that our final day of the season is October 31! Come celebrate with us once more!
